RENEWABLE ENERGY

In 2008 I was fortunate to be one of the founders of http://solarnation.com.

Solar Natio, Inc.  is a full-service design/engineer/build solar-energy-systems and solutions provider serving business, government, and non-profit organizations.

Building on over a century of engineering, contracting, and distribution experience, Solar Nation’s expertise covers the broad range of vertically integrated disciplines—including product development; manufacturing; licensing and distribution; electrical, mechanical, civil, and manufacturing engineering; energy regulation; finance; and commercial construction—necessary for the design, manufacture, distribution, installation, integration, and certification of solar-electric systems and solutions ranging from rooftop arrays, serving individual schools and businesses, to ground-mounted arrays deployed over hundreds of acres, serving major metropolitan areas.

Solar Nation has assembled a team of analysts that stands ready to show you and your accounting team how Solar Nation can help you capitalize on the renewable energy revolution.  And once you determine what solar energy can mean for you, Solar Nation will be there every step of the way to design, engineer, and install the perfect solar-electric system and energy efficient solution to meet your organization’s needs.

Contact Solar Nation today to learn more about how our systems and services can deliver environmental and financial results for you.

EMB Energy, Inc. provides a solution to the energy storage dilemna that plagues the worlds energy consumption and production marketplace..

The Electro-Mechanical Battery (EMB) is a bulk electric energy storage device that offers a practical solution to many of the shortcomings of renewable energy technologies, such as the diurnal nature of wind and solar intermittency.  The EMB should be considered an enabling technology because of its economically competitive ability to level net power delivery to the electric grid, resulting in a higher transmission line utilization factor.

Scientists at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) have substantially improved both the storage capacity and the cost of EMBs by incorporating cutting-edge technological advancements into their design.  The LLNL EMB, unlike all of the other EMBs currently in the market or in development, can be practically deployed on any scale, for any application including the provision of “virtual peak shaving” at industrial facilities.  By charging the EMB during off-peak hours, and then discharging during peak hours, the industrial customer can both reduce its peak demand and benefit from time-of-day energy rates.  A typical industrial customer’s electric bill may be reduced by as much as 25% when a properly sized EMB is installed on-site or along the utility circuit path that serves the load.

As we continue to add more renewable (and intermittent) energy resources such as wind and photovoltaic systems to the power supply mix, the grid’s demand for frequency regulation will increase dramatically.  The EMB’s low cost and near instantaneous response time makes it a far superior alternative than automatic generator control (AGC) to provide regulation.  An EMB deployment can serve multiple purposes and markets.  Its extraordinary flexibility and extremely high reliability will benefit the electric system tremendously.

This cutting edge EMB technology is extremely efficient.  Unlike other electric storage systems that incur losses between 15% and 40%+, the LLNL EMB will incur losses of less than 3%.  The wide-spread deployment of this next-era technology will contribute substantially to the reduction of harmful emissions by increasing the overall efficiency of the nation’s integrated electric system.
